Grant K. Framstad Obituary Went to be with his Lord on June 29, 2009. Born in Brookings, S.D. on Sept. 27, 1918, Grant was the middle child to Trygve and Marte Framstad. Having grown up on a farm near Bushnell, S.D., Grant graduated from Brookings High School and received a bachelors degree from South Dakota State University. After graduating from college he served in the US Army Air Corp in the Intelligence Unit in the European theatre. After his service in WWII, he returned to Brookings and worked in the Agriculture Extension Service. He then went to work for the AID under the State Dept. and served in Lybia, Korea, Nigeria, and Vietnam over the course of 22 years. It was in Tripoli, Lybia that he met and married Helen Nelson in 1952, and remained married for over 55 years. He retired in 1975 and moved to Spokane, WA. He was an active member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, the Inland Northwest Wildlife Council, and the Ag Bureau of the Chamber of Commerce. Grant is survived by his wife Helen, daughter Jenny Fuller, three grandchildren, his sister Sigrid Osbeck, and a niece and nephews. A viewing will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 8 from 12-5pm. A graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery on Thursday, July 9 at 10am, followed by a memorial service at St. Luke Lutheran Church at 11:30am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Luke Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, or the Inland Northwest Wildlife Council Foundation.
