Harold A. "Hal" Moffit

Harold A. "Hal" Moffit Obituary Harold (Hal) Moffit, 73, was called home to God on November 12, 2016 from his home in Spokane Valley WA. He was preceded in death by his mother, Josephine and his brother John. He is survived by his wife Gae Ann, children Roy, Jim (Dani) and Shannon (Scott), his grandchildren Gabriel, Alec, Blake, Aspen, Michael and Moriah, niece LeLoni (Earl), cousins Judy (Stan), Grace (Kevin), Daryl (Carmerina), Frances and an extensive extended family. Hal was born in Seattle, WA on January 19, 1943. His education included: St. Paschals School, West Valley High School and graduated from Bonanza High School in Oregon. His post-high school education included University of Wyoming (B.S. in Animal Husbandry), Eastern Washington University (Teaching Certificate) and Whitworth University (Masters Degree in Education). He served our country in the Army from 1961-1963. He was stationed in Germany during the building of the Berlin Wall. Hal and Gae Ann met while attending the University of Wyoming and were married in Estes Park, CO in 1965. They resided in Spokane Valley most of their lives. They square danced for many years and were club officers as well as on the board of the Western Dance Association. Family camping was a special enjoyment as they progressed from tenting to a large RV. He taught 31 years, the last 20, in East Valley School District. To the great enjoyment of the students at Trentwood Elementary, he chaired many years of Science Fairs. Most of his summers were spent creating memories as hundreds of teenagers learned how to drive. In April 1988, Hal was selected as teacher of the year for Trentwood Elementary. Late summers were spent outdoors with farmers being a crop insurance adjuster. Enterprise Rent-a-Car was his retirement job. Other hobbies included coin collecting, barbed wire collecting and rebuilding a 1917 Model T. He volunteered at the Union Gospel Mission. While our dad lived an amazing life, his greatest gift was the love he had for his wife and kids that was felt every day, no matter what we did. His funeral will be Saturday December 3, 2016 at St Marys Catholic Church (304 S Adams Rd, Spokane Valley, WA 99216) at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will be at the Washington State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Medical Lake at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Union Gospel Mission in Hals name.
