Harold "Ray" Raymond Johnson Obituary
Ray Johnson, a long term resident of the Priest River area
died October 3,2010. Ray was born September 25, 1930 in Kellogg, Idaho, to Roy and Laura Johnson. He was a member of the Newport Seventh Day Adventist church and enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing and huckleberry picking. He was also an
accomplished musician and songwriter. Songs he wrote were about the experiences of his life and his love of North Idaho. Ray is survived by his former wife, Patsy Johnson of Deer Park, Washington; daughters Linda Deffenbaugh and husband Jim of Rathdrum, Idaho; Debbie
Dwello and husband Terry of Eagle River, Alaska; Laurie Johnson and Kristi Johnson of Wasilla, Alaska; sons Steve Johnson and wife Marsha of Chewelah,
Washington; Stan Johnson and wife Pam of Anchorage, Alaska; Dallas Johnson and wife Susan of Newport, Washington; Jeff Johnson and wife Lori of
Clayton, Washington; Matt Johnson and wife Teresa of Deer Park, Washington and Travis Johnson and wife Maria of Chandler, Arizona; and thirty-one grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by
daughter, Myrna Louise; sisters Ethel Johnson-England and Myrna Johnson-Rowe and his parents Roy and Laura Johnson. Early in his working career Ray logged the forests around Priest Lake then
worked on the construction of Albeni Dam. He finished his working career as an oiler at Kaiser Aluminum and Brown's Trailers where he was injured on the job. The remainder of his life, he worked helping friends and family members over the hurdles of life and explore the mountains of North Idaho. All family members and friends appreciated Ray sharing his love and knowledge of the Bear Paw and surrounding mountains.
