Harriett was born on February 24, 1920 to Howard & Lucile Benson and was raised in the Spokane area. She was a kind and loving person who devoted herself to her family, showering them with love and her delicious home-made cakes, cookies and pies. Harriett?s embroidery was legend in the family. After graduating from Mead High School in 1938, she became its first secretary. When her husband Lloyd Rinck came home at the end of WWII, Harriett and Lloyd, along with his parents Ed and Frieda Rinck of Greenbluff, built and operated The Coplen Market in south Hillyard. Harriett also clerked for J.J. Newberry?s and for Louis August?s grocery in Browne?s Addition. After marrying Louis Bailey, she moved to Seattle and worked for Boeing. When they moved to Brewster she worked in an apple packing plant. They later moved back to Spokane and Harriett lived the past 11 years at Lilac Plaza where she made many friends. Harriett passed away on July 21, 2011. She is survived by her four children: Sharon (Gary) Millay, Edward (Annette) Rinck, Donald (Pennie) Rinck and Charles (Diane) Rinck. Harriett also enjoyed 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
