Harriet M. Adams Obituary Harriet M. Adams, a resident of Spokane Valley since 1956, passed peacefully into the arms of her beloved Savior, Jesus Christ on June 8, 2013. She was born on November 26, 1920 in Somers, Montana, to Cecil and Cora McDonald. Her family traveled to Coeur d' Alene, Idaho by covered wagon in 1928. After a series of short term moves she later moved to Oregon City, Oregon where she graduated from high school in 1939. She later returned to Coeur d' Alene and resided there and the Spokane Valley until her passing. Harriet had a long and distinguished professional career. As a highly skilled legal secretary, she worked in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho for the J. Ward Arney Law firm, and later in Spokane, Washington for the Washington Attorneys General Office, and Kaiser Aluminum Department of Metallurgical Research. She was a charter member of the National Secretaries Association. Harriet later expanded her working experience by acquiring a realtor's license and working for Lemley Real Estate in the Valley. Harriet's interests included a passion for writing where she was frequently published. She also enjoyed needlework, flower gardening, cooking, traveling, and homemaking. Harriet was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church for over 50 years, and a member of First Presbyterian Church by affiliation. Harriet is survived by her sister, Marilin Sullivan; sisters-in-law, Velma McDonald and Rosalie McDonald; sons, Gary and Roger Anderson and Tom and Richard Clemson; daughters-in-law, Jeanie and Pam Anderson, and Tammy and Mary Clemson; grandchildren, Eric Anderson and his wife Heather, Brook and Kayla Clemson, and Brogan and Braden Clemson; and great-grandchildren, Evan and Hollyn Anderson. Her husband of 30 years Donald M. Adams Jr; brothers Jim, Ken and Omar McDonald; granddaughter, Angela Anderson and daughter-in-law, Janice Anderson preceded Harriet in death. A private family graveside will be held at Riverside Memorial Park. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 1:00PM, with a reception to follow.
