Harry H. Hendron Obituary
Harry H. Hendron, 94, passed away June 3, 2018 in Spokane, surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Anaconda, Montana, to Harold and Cora Hendron. Harry was most often described as a gentleman ? kind, helpful, and witty. Harry was raised in Helena and graduated from High School in Grangeville, Idaho. Before enlisting in the Army in 1943 and landing in Normandy on D-Day, he was training to be an aircraft engine mechanic at Gore Field in Great Falls. After studying mechanical engineering at the University of Idaho, Harry worked for Riblet Tramway Company of Spokane in the early 1950s. During this time, he met his future wife, Inge, and they married in Denmark in 1955. Harry then worked 25 years for Bovay Engineers and finished out his career at the R. A. Hanson Company. Harry is survived by his wife of 62 years, Inge; sister Jeanne of Seattle; brother Robert of Des Moines, WA; brother Charles of Ocean Grove, NJ; son Lars (Kris) of Spokane; son Colin (Debra) of Ironton, MO; and granddaughter Birgitta of Spokane. Harry was a story-teller and a family man, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He loved all manner of games ? especially chess, cribbage, backgammon, and sudoku ? and his hobbies included sailing, traveling, and building wood furniture. Harry also had a lifelong love of old airplanes, often going to see antique aircraft at Felts Field and enjoying buckwheat pancakes at the Skyway Caf?. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 on Friday, June 22 at Central Lutheran Church in Spokane. The family sincerely thanks the staff at Hospice House South for their kind, compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made to Central Lutheran Church or Hospice of Spokane.
