Harry Richard Gonos Obituary Harry went to be with Jesus peacefully on December 7, 2012 in Spokane, Washington. He was surrounded by his family who thought of him as a fun-loving, generous, and caring man whose love for Jesus, his Savior, was evident to all. In his 84 years of life he was a faithful servant of God, a loving husband, father, brother, and grandpa. He loved old westerns, Andy Griffith, football, peanut butter, and Snoopy. He was a jokester at heart and always had a joke ready. He was a friend to everyone and had a way of making anyone feel like family. Harry was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania on October 2, 1928 to John and Mary Gonos. He married Barbara Kronberg in Fayetteville, North Carolina in the late 40's and they raised four children, Jimmy, Kathy, Ingrid, and Michael. He served his country as a member of the 82nd Airborne and retired in 1967 after serving in the Army for over 20 years. After his first wife passed away, he married Jeanne (Rowlands) Gruver on September 25, 1995. He lived and spread his love for life in many places but lived the longest in Glendale, Arizona moving their in the late 70's and remaining there until 2009 when he moved to Spokane, WA to be near his family. He is survived by many who loved and enjoyed the many things about him that endeared him to all. They include his sisters: Dolores Gonos, Maryann Kotch, and Patricia Flannery and his children: son Jimmy Atkinson and his wife Bonnie; daughter Kathy Wurz and her daughters: Jenny, who married Scott Hurd and their children Kayla, Kody, Jake, Katie, Emily, Noah, and Seth; Pam, who married Donnie Johnson and their sons Silas and Samuel; Beth Wurz and her daughter Faith; daughter Ingrid Moran and her daughter Jamie Lynn who married Richard Orr and their children Tatum and Hannah; son Michael Gonos; stepdaughter Jackie, her husband O. Crosby Sparks, and their son Travis and his wife Jennifer; stepdaughter Jo Ann, her husband Kenny Mateyu and their daughter Heather, who married David Phillips and their children Josh, Jeffrey, and Jaeson; stepson Jeff Gruver and his daughter Jeanna along with her daughter Ahmahz. In lieu of flowers his family is asking that a donation be made in his memory to Liferoads Church (4209 E. Pacific Ave, Spokane, WA. 99202) where you would find him working as a greeter most Sundays. His family would also like to say thank you to all the staff at Horizon Hospice for how they serve our community and a special thanks to Dr. Jason Heffernan, Marsha, Jennifer, Janet, Ray and Mike for sharing in Harry's life with us. We appreciate all of you so much. He will be laid to rest on Saturday, December 15th at Riverside Memorial Park at 508 N. Government Way at 1:00pm in a Graveside Service. There will be a celebration of life service at Liferoads Church at 4209 E. Pacific Ave on Saturday, December 15th at 6pm.
