Harry Thomas Leigh Obituary (Age 90) Harry Thomas Leigh died peacefully surrounded by his family on April 6, 2010. Harry was born in Cheney, WA, November 26, 1919, to Ernest H. and Minnie Linder Leigh. He graduated from Lewis & Clark High School in 1938, and from WSU 1942, with a Bachelor's Degree in Horticulture. He later earned his Master's in Education from Whitworth College. Upon graduation from WSU Harry married the love of his life, Isla Bysegger. A veteran of WWII, Harry served in the Army Air Corp in the India-Burma Theater from 1942-1945. Upon his return from the service, Harry worked for the First National Bank and later as a teacher for the Colville School District. He loved gardening, watching sporting events, and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, brothers Robert, Roy, Fred, and sisters Bessie Kennett, and Betty Armstrong. Harry is survived by his wife of 68 years, Isla; his son James (Megan); grandson Brendan (Alicia); granddaughter Emily (Nick) Mikoski; his beloved great-grandchildren Savanah and Max Mikoski; brothers Henry (Lorene), Harley (Inga); sister Florabelle (Glen) Dobbins; numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 15, 2010, 1:00 PM, at Heritage Funeral Home, 508 North Government Way, Spokane, WA, with reception following. Inurnment at Spokane Memorial Gardens will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Comfort Care Room c/o Foundations, Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children's Hospital PO Box 2555 Spokane, WA, 99220-2555, or to any charity for special needs children.
