May 11, 2015 Harvey Gallaugher at age 88 passed away to join his wife Inez L Gallaugher, whom passed on May 2, 2015. Just days a part. They had just celebrated their 66th year of marriage on April 30, 2015. Harvey was a long time resident of Spokane, WA and worked for the Great Northern/Burlington Northern Railroad for 40 years as a Signal Maintainer.
Harvey leaves behind three daughters: Marilyn Brakke, Nancy Wilbur (Don) and Pamela Gallaugher;
2 sisters: Alice and Maryann, 2 that he called brothers: Ed (John) Overvold (Judy) and Harold Overvold; grandchildren: Eric Brakke (Stephanie), Allison Schuchart, and Matthew Gallaugher; great-grandchildren: Olivia and Joshua Brakke, Krystle and Tannin Stacey, and Elysia Alkut, as well as several nieces, nephews and neighbor children that called him Papa.
Harvey was born on April 17, 1927 and raised on a farm in Arlington, WA. He enlisted in the Navy in 1947, then Harvey and Inez were married on April 30, 1949.
Working on the Railroad the family relocated many times throughout Washington until settling in Spokane in 1963, where they lived in the same home for 48 years. Harvey was a very caring Husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather. He used his talents to rebuild things and tinker in his Garage at home. He was always willing to help friends and neighbors with their projects. He was also very proud of his wife and daughters. Harvey and Inez?s daughters, family and friends enjoyed many years at North Twin Lakes, WA. He built additions to their trailer and he always had a projects throughout the years at the lake. It was work first then play time at the lake, but he enjoyed his fishing. Harvey was a life time member of the VFW.
Harvey is now in peace with the Lord and with his wife, Inez. This is what he wanted and somehow Harvey usually got what he wanted. He was very loved by many and will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
Due to health reason of both Harvey and Inez, sold their home and moved to Sullivan Park Assisted Living in December of 2011. Both of them had a bond with employees at Sullivan Park. The family would like to thank each and every one of the staff for the excellent care given to Harvey and Inez while being residents. Also Thank you to the staff at Valley Hospital and Medical Center on floor three and the care Harvey received in the last two weeks of his life at Sullivan Park Care Center. A Graveside Service will be held to honor both our mom and dad on Friday, May 15, 2015 at 2:00PM at Spokane Memorial Gardens. A reception will follow at the VFW Post #51, 300 W. Mission at 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Hospice of Spokane or the VFW.
