Hawley "Bud" Charles Stevens Obituary Born in Sacramento, California, February 12, 1927, entered into God's loving arms in Spokane, Washington, on November 3, 2009. Bud attended North Central High School prior to joining the United States Navy in 1943. During his military career, Bud served his beloved country in three wars World War II, Korean Conflict (received the Presidential Unit Citation) and Vietnam War. Bud received 17 military commendations and retired from the Navy as Chief Petty Officer in 1966. Following his military retirement, he left San Diego, California, and returned to Spokane where he was employed in the automotive industry as parts specialist. He also owned Bud's Candy Sales.Bud was a member of the El Katif Shrine, Concordia Lodge 249 F&M. He was in the Arab Patrol and a charter member of the Legion of Honor, South Spokane Shrine Club and Valley Shrine Club. He also belonged to the VFW. Bud's hobbies included golf, travel, and bowling. He and Leona made many trips to attend the reunions of the U.S.S. Helandia on which he served in the Navy. Bud is survived by his wife of 26 years, Leona Stevens, and three children, Hawley Charles Stevens, Jr. and Carol L. Nunes Dau, both of San Diego, California, Connie M. Heinzmann of McCall, Idaho, eight grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, his sister, Audrey Bixby of Spokane, Washington, and Lynda L. Androsky of Mead, Washington, Jesse Bundy, father, of Spokane, Washington. Graveside services will be held Friday, November 6, 2009 at 11:00am at Greenwood Memorial Terrace Cemetery in Spokane, Washington. Donations to the Shriners' Childrens' Hospital in lieu of flowers would be greatly appreciated.
