Helen W. White Obituary Our mother, friend and cheerleader, Helen White, died after a short illness. Helen was born in Indianola, Iowa to L. Dale and Irene Weeks. She was the Tomboy of the neighborhood and a smart and athletic younger sister to her brother, Dale. WWII interfered with finishing college and she worked at Wright Air Field toward the end of the war. She then attended Kelsey Baird Business School and came to Spokane planning to be a buyer for the Crescent. However, she met and married her husband, Paul White. Paul was an attorney and both of our parents worked together managing the law office and their rental properties. The family spent wonderful summers with family and friends at Lower Twin Lakes for decades. Mom was an active volunteer at Irving Elementary and with Boy Scouts alongside our Dad. Paul died in 1982 and Mom spread her wings and gained a whole new set of friends and activities. She loved her family, bridge, football, casino, shopping and traveling, pretty much in that order, although we think bridge was first in her later years. She will be missed by her large circle of family and friends. Helen was predeceased by her husband, Paul, one grandson, Sam Johnson, her parents and brother and one-son-in-law, Bob ODell. She is survived by her four children, Mary (Ty) Johnson, Ann White (ODell), Ross (Jamie) White and Martha (Russ) Meili as well as 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. We wish to thank all her bridge friends for years of fun, The Academy for welcoming Mom so kindly (more blueberries?) and the staff at Sacred Heart Hospital and Riverview Rehab for their capable and caring service in moms final month. At Helens request there will be no formal memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations suggested to the following organizations, Shriners Hospital, Boy Scouts of America, Multiple Sclerosis Society and Muscular Dystrophy Association or charity of your choice.
