Went to be with the Lord peacefully in his sleep following a long illness. His family moved frequently for work during the Great Depression, eventually settling again in the greater Los Angeles area after stints in Phoenix and Prescott, AZ. Herb served in the 102nd infantry division as a radio operator, earning the Silver Star for valor, as well as several other medals and awards. In addition to his family, Herb enjoyed hiking, camping, canoeing, and church. He is survived by his wife Barbara; his son Douglas Jones (Rae Ann); and his daughter Julie Awbrey (Matt).
