Herbert Stanley Simon Obituary Herbert S. Simon of Studio City, CA was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 9, 1926. He was raised in Spokane, WA and enlisted in the US Navy and received an honorable discharge in 1946. Herb then attended and graduated from Gonzaga University. He earned additional graduate degrees in Electrical Engineering from USC and the University of Arizona. Herb worked in the aerospace industry for over forty years. The majority of his career was spent at JPL in Pasadena (1965-1997). During his 32 years at JPL, Herb designed and implemented ground systems for space flight support. For over fifteen years Herb was a valued volunteer at the Childrens Hospital in Los Angeles and was also an active stamp collector. Herb is survived by his wife of over thirty years, Barbara Simon, who now resides in Twenty-Nine Palms, CA. Herb will be interred at the Mt. Nebo cemetery in Spokane, WA on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 10:00am.
