Herman Paul Rauch

Herman Paul Rauch Obituary Paul was born in Moultrie County, Illinois to Herman and Tella May Briscoe Rauch on October 12, 1920 ? an only child. He attended three different rural schools in Moultrie County, graduated from Sullivan Township High School, and Sparks Business College, Shelbyville, IL. He was employed as bookkeeper of the Fruit Belt Service Company, Vienna, IL, for three years. While residing in Vienna, he met and married V. Fern Simpson. He then served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve during World War II (almost four years) and most of the time was assigned to the U.S. Coast Guard Third Naval District Pay Office, 42 Broadway, New York, NY. After discharge from the Coast Guard, he operated a grain and dairy farm for 17 years in Moultrie and Shelby Counties, IL. He was then employed by the Charleston Production Credit Association, Charleston, IL for six years, then by the Farm Credit Administration, Washington, D.C. as a Bank Examiner. Paul traveled extensively during the 22 years as a Bank Examiner. He retired from FCA in 1986 and was then employed by TranSecurities International, Inc., Spokane, WA until 1999. During his employment with FCA he and his wife lived in Charleston, IL, Omaha, NE, Minneapolis, MN and Spokane, WA. Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Fern. He is survived by four children: Fern Paulette (Alan) Ashbrook, Sparta, IL, J. Edward (Cathy) Rauch, Mason, OH, Margaret Kay (David) Rios, Cedar Hill, TX, and Carolyn Sue (Larry) Jess, Spokane, WA; 13 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. He and Fern loved to travel and visit family and many friends. They were longtime members of Christian churches where they resided. Paul taught Sunday School many years and served as an elder in four Christian churches, located in Neoga, IL, Charleston, IL, Omaha, NE, and the most recent Westgate Christian Church, Spokane, WA for 17 years. When he retired from the eldership in December 2001 because of health problems, he was named Elder Emeritus. Paul died on June 22, 2015 at Hospice House of Spokane surrounded by family. Memorials may be directed to Hospice House of Spokane. A Funeral Service was held June 23, 2015 with interment at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
