Hilda May Mitchell Obituary (Age 81) Hilda May Mitchell passed away May 1, 2018 at Holy Family Hospital in Spokane, WA. She was born October 8, 1936 in St. John, WA to Cecil T. Varner and Sarah H. Sharp. Hilda graduated from St. John High School in 1954. She moved to Spokane where she worked for PNB as an operator for several years before getting married and starting a family. After living in Colorado for several years, Hilda returned to the Spokane area in 1978 where she worked for Sacred Heart Hospital for 37 years as an insurance verifier until retiring in 2015. Hilda was an avid sports fan; she also enjoyed crocheting afghans for family and close friends, playing Yahtzee, and the occasional trip to the casino. Hilda is survived by her children, Nancy Davis and Ronald Mitchell of Spokane; brother, Larry (Lucille) Varner of Spokane; grandchildren, Dan (Tina) Davis and Brandi Holthouse also of Spokane; numerous nieces and nephews and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Wilma Lockett. Viewing will be held on Monday, May 7th from 10am � 5pm at Heritage Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 8th at 11am at Heritage Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
