Irene B. Pankey Obituary (Age 88) Entered into rest October 18, 2011 in Spokane. She was born June 27, 1923 in Kevin, Montana to Eddie and Lena Engle. Irene spent time in the old Spokane Shriners Hospital for Polio treatment as a child and remained an advocate for those with disabilities. Irene was married to Charles Pankey on October 26, 1944. Charles and Irene resided in Spokane and were active in the Browne?s Addition Neighborhood Committee. They were avid hockey enthusiasts and often attended the Spokane Comets, Jets, Flyers and Chiefs games. Charles and Irene also enjoyed years of antique dealing and refurbishing. Irene was preceded in death by her son Lloyd Pankey, grandson Joshua Pankey, and husband Charles Pankey. She is survived by her son, Eddie and wife Phyllis Pankey of White Salmon, WA; granddaughter Megan Pankey of Corvallis, OR; grandsons Mike and wife Kelly Pankey of Spokane, Joel Pankey of Nampa, ID; Jessy and wife Kristen Wardwell of White Salmon, WA; great-grandchildren Madison and Bronson Pankey of Spokane, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Private services will be held at a later date.
