Irene (Lyon) Jorgensen Obituary (Age 89) Irene passed peacefully into the arms of her angels, Monday, the 6th of September. She was born in Moscow Idaho, to Leslie and Ida Lyon. She graduated from Sacred Heart School of Nursing and immediately joined the U. S. Army in the war effort, entering into the Army Nurse Corp., achieving the rank of 2nd Lt. and was Duties Charge Nurse. She left the Army, August of 1946. She married the love of her life R.E. "Tiny" Jorgensen on June 23, 1950. Tiny and Irene had three children Betty, Bob, and Paul. Betty and Paul sadly passed before Mom. Tiny passed in 2006. Irene wanted to get back to nursing again and in 1964 she accepted a position at the Spokane Public Health District and worked as a public health nurse until 1978. When Mom and Dad moved to Waitsburg, Washington she volunteered for the Health Systems Agency from 1979 -1984, acting as a visiting nurse throughout several counties in the Walla Walla/Waitsburg area. When living in Waitsburg she was the only female Veteran to go into the V.F.W. for her glass of wine. The men finally accepted her, as one of them, another Veteran, and looked forward to her visits there. Irene loved her family, which includes the Lyon's, Iversons, and Kammerer's, and her life long friends, Dan and Ruth Crandell, to name but a few. She also held a special place in her heart for Mel and Jackie Jorgensen, her brother and sister-in-law, and their children. Irene especially loved her grandchildren, Matt, Dan, Allison, and Katherine, and Bob's wife Karin. A special thanks to all of the staff at Royal Park Care Center. You treated our Mom with the dignity and grace she deserved and for that we will always be truly grateful. Thank You. There will be no service at this time. The family requests in lieu of flowers that any honorarium be sent to your local hospice. Mom, your favorite toast will be given in your honor, just as you toasted your loved ones, "Lift your glasses high, Here's rubbing your old Bottom..!!" You were a wonderful Lady and the best Mom, Rest in Peace our darling Irene
