Irving Lawrence Kiehn Obituary Irving was born November 9, 1924 in Wenatchee, Washington to Alvin and Lila Kiehn. When he was a small boy the family moved to Spokane, Washington where he grew up. Irving was one of five children (Melvin, Donald, Arvin and Connie). He is the fifth generation of the German settlement in Washington State which helped establish the towns of Odessa and Ritzville. He stepped into the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus on February 6, 2018 at the age of 93. He loved the Lord. He is survived by his wife Jeanine, his daughters Karen, Marcia and Laurie, his son Kenneth and sister Connie; five grandchildren (Jeremy, Nathan, Sarah, Jason and Kelsie), eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He attended North Central High School until World War II began and he then enlisted in the U.S. Army Infantry and served from May 1943 to April 1945. He served in the Asian Pacific where he was wounded three times and awarded the Purple Heart with three clusters. After the war he returned to Spokane and trained to be a cabinet maker then married the love of his life, Jeanine Montroy (Kiehn) in 1949. He worked in several cabinet shops in the Spokane area and was highly regarded for his workmanship. Later he accepted employment at Fairchild Air Force Base and eventually retired from there as a Quality Assurance Agent. He loved the outdoors and loved being with family. He especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking and gardening. He taught his children and grandchildren how to hunt and fish, use a hammer and all types of tools. He was all about spending time, whether work or play, with family and teaching how to be self sufficient. He enjoyed working with his hands and was very creative and artistic with his projects. He could build anything out of wood. He also built bicycles, a Model A, a boat, guns, engineered and added onto his house, many sheds and garages, patio and patio covers, fences, etc. He was a hard worker and happy when working. We will miss his presence, his voice, his smile and his hugs. We love you, Dad. A memorial service to celebrate Irving Kiehn's life will be held on March 24, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Turning Point Open Bible Church, 11911 N.
