Jack A. Bretz Obituary (Age 92) Jack passed away May 26, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving wife and family after a brief illness. Jack was born on March 27, 1919, was raised primarily in Spokane. He had fond memories of spending summers in Canada with his Aunt Merle and Uncle Jack. He served as a US Army Ranger during WWII. Jack met Mabel on a city bus and it was love at first sight. They were married on April 2, 1946. Jack loved his family, pets, gardening, hunting, fishing, and traveling with Mabel in their RV. He always enjoyed a good joke. He was a good Christian and was loved very much by family and friends. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mabel, 4 children: Katherine (Fred) Wilson, Vernon (Nancy) Bretz, Marian (Mike) Whitney, Karl (Sheryl) Bretz, 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren 1 great-great-grandson, 2 sisters: Doreen (David) Belland, Merle (Jim) Peck, and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Hospice of Spokane for all of their support during this difficult time. A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 1 from 10 am to 5 pm at Heritage Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at Sunset Chapel, 5200 W. Wellesley Ave on Thursday, June 2 at 11 am.
