Jack Leroy Moon

Jack LeRoy Moon, born on May 19, 1945, in Spokane, Washington, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026, in his hometown of Spokane. He was 80 years old.
Jack was born at Deaconess Hospital and spent his childhood in North Spokane, where he enjoyed a vibrant upbringing surrounded by family and friends. He attended Logan Elementary School and graduated from North Central High School. Jack’s life reflected his deep roots in the Spokane community, where he lived his entire life.
Jack dedicated his life to the service of others. He began his career in Fire Fighting and EMS as a Wildland firefighter for the Department of Natural Resources, where he met Sandra, who would eventually become his wife of 50 years. Jack joined Spokane County Fire District #9 in 1969 and served as a firefighter before transitioning to dispatching, where he remained for 24 years. He served as the Secretary-Treasurer for IAFF 2916 since 1983 until recently and was also the Secretary-Treasurer for the Benevolent Association from 2014-2020.
Jack continued his service to the community through his 54-year membership with the Odd Fellows and Rebekah’s. During that time, he served in various offices, including Nobel Grand and Secretary. He also served on the board for the Odd Fellow Temple in Spokane, WA. Jack was also a long-standing member of the Eagles Lodge in Spokane.
Jack will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and the strong connections he maintained with those who knew him best. His legacy will be carried on by his family and friends who will cherish his memory. Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Moon; his two brothers, Sister; and his parents. Jack’s surviving family includes Tamara Drapeau and her husband, Mike; Tim Moon and his significant other, Elisabeth; his grandsons, Colton Drapeau and Lance Drapeau, and his wife, Melissa; and two great-grandchildren, Emelyn and Skylar Drapeau. Jack also has a niece, multiple nephews, and multiple cousins.
A memorial service will be held in Spokane on April 11, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home on Government Way to celebrate Jack’s life.
Jack’s presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
