Jack was born February 6, 1923 and passed away February 17, 2012. He was preceded in death by his mother Orpha Shryack, father Walter Shryack, and sister Francis (Eldon) Clapp. He was born in Eagle, CO and moved with his family to Nampa, ID, then settled in Haines, OR where he attended Haines High School and graduated Valedictorian in 1941. Jack came to Spokane and attended Northwestern Business College where he met his wife Betty Redding. He was inducted into the Army and wed on his birthday on February 6, 1943. Jack and Betty were married 69 years. Jack leaves behind his wife Betty, son Jan (Tina) Shryack, daughter Barbara (Mike) Melville, 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. Jack had a passion for cars, golf and watching Gonzaga basketball, WSU basketball, and golf on TV. He retired from the State Highway Department as office manager in 1988. He served in the Army from 1943-46 in WWII, doing tours of Hawaii, Japan and the Philippines. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 24, 2012 at 1:00pm at Heritage Funeral Home.
