Jackie "Jack" Lee Dobbs Obituary
(Age 75) Jack Dobbs, a 34 year resident of Spokane, entered into rest after a longtime illness, on September 21, 2010 at the Spokane Veterans Home. Born in Maroa, Illinois on August 15, 1935, he was the son of the late Floyd Dobbs and Callie Mae (Evans) Dobbs. Jack was a retired United States Air Force Master Sergeant working as an Aircraft (Jet) Mechanic and Supervisor that took him to various air bases around the world. He was also a Veteran of the Viet Nam War. He served proudly with his unit the 64th Fighter Squadron, stationed at Clark Air Base in the Philippines. This unit won the distinguished "Hughes Trophy", an award that was given to the best "Fighter Interceptor Squadron" in the Air Force for the year 1968. Jack loved his days in the military and was accustomed to that particular lifestyle, retiring after twenty three years of service to his country. He had other various jobs after his retirement in October of 1976 most notably; Felts Field Aviation as a parts warehouse manager, retiring officially after ten years of service. Jack was an avid sports fan following the St. Louis Cardinals and Seattle Mariner baseball teams as well as the Seattle Seahawks and Dallas Cowboy football teams. He was a spirited fan with his family's local sports endeavors and he was a gifted softball player himself, playing first base. Jack enjoyed water aerobics and collecting baseball caps. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, VFW-Veterans of Foreign Wars and the NCOA-Non Commissioned Officers Association. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Beverly (Mayberry) Dobbs of Spokane; three sons Barry Dobbs, Federal Way, Washington; Bryan Dobbs, Spokane; and Robert Dobbs, Spokane; two daughters Patricia Cole of Spokane and Christa Kelly, Walla Walla, WA; he also leaves 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Services will be held Monday, September 27th, at the Fairmount Sunset Chapel, 5200 W. Wellesley Ave. at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be donated to the Spokane Veterans Home at 222 E 5th Ave., Spokane, WA 99202.
