Jacquie passed away in Spokane at the age of 89 on June 21, 2026.

She was born the eldest daughter of Philip and June Bloom on the first day of Summer, June 21, 1937.

Jacquie graduated from Ellensburg High School and later attended Washington State University where she met the love of her life Edward Ewell. She then attended Eastern Washington University and earned

her degree in education. Jacquie dedicated her career to teaching in the Spokane Public School District

at Salk, Sacajewea, Rogers and Lewis & Clark for 26 years.

Jacquie and Edward were married in 1957 and shared 57 wonderful years of marriage and raised three

daughters together. Throughout their lives they enjoyed traveling the world and were fortunate to visit

all seven continents. They spent many cherished summers at their cabin on Coeur d’Alene lake, creating

lasting memories with family and friends. Jacquie was an exceptional cook who loved hosting gatherings

and bringing people together. She remained active throughout her life, enjoyed playing tennis,

swimming, and running nearly every day. She participated in many Ham on Regal productions along with

Edward. A dedicated participant in Spokane’s beloved Bloomsday race, beginning in 1982, she finished

31 Bloomsdays and looked forward to the event every year.

Jacquie is survived by her daughters Monica (Frank) Cholaj, Marla (Jerry) Bosley, Michelle (David)

Dearlove; her grandchildren Kyle, Alicia (Ted), Natalie, Brandon (Nathan), Matthew (Sara), and greatgrandchildren

Harrison and Dane.

Jacquie will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and devotion to her family. She was a beloved

wife, mother and grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who

knew and loved her.

The family would like to thank Zola from Visiting Angels and the thoughtful Atrium staff at Rockwood

Retirement Communities for the wonderful care she received.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Rockwood Residents Foundation at: 2903 25th Ave,

Spokane WA. 99223, www.rockwoodretirement.org or (509) 536-6677 or a charity of your choice.

A celebration of life will be at a later date.
