James A. Nevin Obituary (Age 76) "39 again" James was born in Spokane, WA on October 11, 1934 to Orvid and Helen Nevin. He attended Garfield Elementary School and North Central High School where he completed the 11th grade before entering the U.S. Navy, where he served from 1952 to 1955. He served on the USS Missouri during the Korean War and earned the Good Conduct Medal, United Nations Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Korean Service Medal. He was officially released from his duty on June 30, 1960. On June 1, 1956 James married Wanda Mae Bradley and had four wonderful children. After leaving the Navy James went to work at Nevin's Hardwood Flooring until 1958 when he began his career at U.R.M., retiring in 1994. James was known for his great sense of humor. His hobbies included Collecting music, painting, ceramics, gardening and watching football "Go Cougs!" He was preceded in death by his son Ronnie Nevin in 1986. James is survived by his daughters Sheryl Michels (Paul), of 9 Mile Falls, WA, Wendy Van Orman (Darren) of Liberty Lake, WA, and Kellie Sevier (Donovan) of Spokane; Siblings, Willis Nevin (Coos Bay, OR), Walter O. Nevin Sr. (Spokane), Shirley Nord (Spokane), and Lucinda Smith (Spanaway, WA) as well as 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A memorial Service will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at 1:00pm at The Sunset Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W. Wellesley. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society , P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1728.
