James E. Montzheimer Obituary (Age 82) James went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 20, 2014 at the age of 82. James was born in Spokane on January 6, 1932 to Kathryn and James Montzheimer. He attended Jefferson Grade School and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School. He attended Washington State University before going into the U.S. Army in 1953. Jim served for two years, spending most of that time at Fort Hood, TX. Upon returning to Spokane in 1955 he met his wife to be, Donna Reese. They were married August of 1956. Jim returned to college at Eastern Washington University and completed a degree in Education. Jim started his career in education in the Shoreline School District, teaching and counseling at Morgan Junior High School. After ten years and completion of a master degree from the University of Washington, Jim moved to Shoreline Community College as Director of Continuing Education. Four years later he was selected as the Director of Vocational Education at Shoreline. Jim retired in 1993 after 35 years in education. He and Donna moved back to Spokane. A few months after retiring, Jim accepted a position as Dean of Business and Technical Education at Wenatchee Valley College for two years. For the past several years he and Donna have split their time living in Spokane, summers at Priest Lake, and winter time visits to Kona, HI. Jim was an Eagle Scout and Scout master. He received the ?Scouter of the Year? award. As a longtime member of Rotary, he served as Club Secretary for eleven years and was President of Shoreline Rotary Club. He was awarded a ?Paul Harris Fellow? and received a ?Service Above Self? award. Jim was a member of Spokane First Presbyterian Church and has been a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, Hoopfest and the Northwest Food Bank. In his spare time he worked on a 1964 wooden boat which was enjoyed at Priest Lake. Jim is survived by his wife Donna of 58 years; two children, Brad (Penney) Montzheimer of Redmond, WA and Laurel (Dana) Copeland of Newman Lake, WA; three wonderful grandsons, Jacob Copeland, Kyle Montzheimer and Joey Copeland. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and sister Janet McEnany. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Chestnut, Mary Jo and Michaele for their care and love during this time. There will be a private graveside service and a celebration of Jim?s life next summer at Priest Lake. In lieu of flowers please give to the charity of your choice in Jim?s memory.
