Passed away peacefully at her home in Spokane on October 27, 2010. A unique, loving and creative woman, Janet was preceded in death by her treasured brother Thomas Fisher, and father George Fisher, and is survived by her beloved son Jon Kam and his wife Samantha Kam; mother Katherine Fisher, sisters Linda Ferriss, Debra Wing, Sharon Fisher, Connie Jack, and brother Ken Fisher. Janet also leaves her dearest grandson Izak Ming Yee Kam, and nieces Katherine Ferriss, Cassia Jack and nephew Scott Ferriss . She also leaves behind her loyal and loving companion pet, Pal, whom she doted on and loved dearly. Janet was born in Dickenson, ND and her family eventually settled in the Spokane area. After graduating from Liberty High School in 1969 she completed undergraduate studies at Eastern Washington University and after marrying John Kam and relocating to Oahu, HI she completed her education at the University of Hawaii attaining a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with minor degrees in Psychology and Philosophy. Janet was an adventurous woman who enjoyed swimming, scuba diving, and vacationing across the U.S. She enjoyed the outdoors and had a great love of picnicking, often driving for hours just to enjoy a favorite spot. She was a tremendous cook, seamstress, crafter, dog lover and sports enthusiast following sports of all kinds enjoying keeping the family up to date on NASCAR standings and Gonzaga scores. A woman with a kind, gentle demeanor she loved and took great pride in both her grandson Izak and treasured niece Katherine. She will be sorely missed by family, friends, neighbors and numerous professional colleagues. A Memorial Service will be held for Janet on Wednesday, November 3 at 2:00 p.m. at Heritage Chapel. The family requests donations in lieu of flowers to the American Diabetes Association, or the Spokane Humane Society.
