August 16, 1921 - July 21, 2015

Jay H. Felt Obituary (Age 93) Jay grew up on a farm near Blackfoot, Idaho and soon learned the lesson of hard work and thrift. After high school he attended two terms of college and decided to serve his country after being accepted as a cadet in the United States Air Force. He progressed until he won a commission in the Air Corps and earned his silver wings. As a pilot, he flew gliders and transport planes in the Pacific corridor in the final stages of World War II. After the war, Jay returned to college at the University of Idaho. It was there he met his future wife, Bernice Bakes. After graduation, they spent several years in southern Idaho in positions with the Federal Land Bank of Spokane. They moved to Spokane in 1964 and Jay was later named Vice President of the bank, a position he held until retirement. Jay was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He loved sports of all kinds and actively participated in many of them. He served as a ski instructor for a time. His greatest joy was his family. His two daughters, Marilyn and Laurie, and their families, were dear to him and they were close to him at his peaceful passing. He is survived by his wife, Bernice Bakes Felt; two daughters: Marilyn Felt Knight (David) and Laurie Felt Farnsworth; grandchildren: Jeffrey Knight, Emily Knight and Valerie Farnsworth Payette (Steve) and three great-grandchildren. Jay was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters. Funeral Service 1:00PM Monday, July 27, 2015 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2721 E. 63rd Avenue. The family requests that donations be made to a favorite charity in lieu of flowers. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Jay, please visit our Tree Store. Read more Events JUL 21
