Our beloved mother, Jean Chan, passed away peacefully in her sleep in Bellevue, Washington on December 19, 2024 at the age of 91. Jean was born in Hong Kong and raised in Guangdong, Taishan China. She lived a long and good life, mostly in Spokane, Washington. She was a loving, dedicated mother and grandmother. On August 28, 1951, she married Yiu Wah Chan in China and they were together for over 73 years. They worked very hard to provide for the family, immigrating to the United States 58 years ago for a better life and freedom. She taught herself to sew, knit and crochet. A very talented seamstress; she made all of our clothes and drapes for our home. They maintained a large garden and both had very green thumbs. In the last 30 years, she learned to crochet and made many beautiful afghan blankets. She also worked full time at the Cathay Inn prepping food, cutting, chopping meat and vegetables for many years. Our Mom was a fighter, tough and strong willed. While she endured a few hardships over many years, she kept on living her best life.
Jean was the youngest of 5 children with three brothers and one sister who all preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband and 4 children: Amy Chan (Sheung Chi), Connie Settje, Tina Falkenberg (Bob) and Henry Chan. Their daughter Tammy Tee passed away in 2003. There are 6 grandchildren: Andrew Chan, Peter Chan, Eileen Chan, Alex Chan, Brian Tee and Lauren Tee.
She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
