Jean (Strom) Hagie Obituary Jean Strom Hagie made the "jump to Jesus" on May 14, 2015 at the age of 88. She was born to Axel and Anne Strom in Williston, ND, the sixth of six children. Jean was raised in Missoula, MT and attended the University of Montana where she was an active member of Kappa Alpha Theta and Spurs, a national service organization. She married Daryl Glen Hagie on August 22, 1948 and they were together over 68 years. She and Daryl lived in Missoula, Bloomington, IN and Pullman, WA before making their home in Cheney. While in Pullman, she received her BA from WSU and later did graduate work at EWU in Cheney. Jean was a charter member of Chapter GA, the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She was also active in civic and social organizations in Cheney. She taught social studies at Cheney High for ten years and sold real estate as well. When asked what her career was, she always answered, "wife and mother," and that sums up Jean. Family first, and people over stuff. Coeur d'Alene Lake, with books, batiks, good food and family are treasured memories. She loved to wander along the Oregon coast, hunting for agates. She was gracious, smart (especially financially and politically), kind, witty, thoughtful - the most caring person most of us will ever know. As a life-long Lutheran, her faith was deep, sincere and shared. She is survived by husband Daryl, son Wayne (Barbara), daughter Ann (Mark), five grandchildren and spouses and two great-grandchildren. A private family service will be held at a later date. Jean enthusiastically supported sending WSU and UI college students on mission trips to Guatemala. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Guatemala Missions, Attention: Ann Summerson, Concordia Lutheran Church, 1015 NE Orchard Drive, Pullman, WA 99163, checks payable to Concordia Lutheran.
