Jeanne Loundagin Obituary
(Age 81)
Jeanne Loundagin was born July 22, 1929 to Roy and Doris Leblanc, and died October 4, 2010. In 1948 she graduated from Rodgers High School, where her art decorated the halls. A year later she married Dick Loundagin, and together they raised four children. The quintessential 'mother hen', she became a licensed babysitter, and through the 70's and into the 80's, the house was bursting with kids. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Beverly Montague, and her son William. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, her daughter Patricia Hern of Helena, MT., sons Michael and Robert of Spokane, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She had several dear friends of many years, including Jan Nash, with whom she would talk into the wee small hours about politics and such, Jan Reynolds, with whom she celebrated all in Nature, and Lillian Odom, her friend since second grade and with whom she shared everything. She was a woman who loved deeply--her children and the children she cared for, her husband and friends, the birds and animals in her yard, the pets that roamed her house, her sewing, knitting, and cooking, and the flowers in her garden, especially the violets. Her bookcases were no match for her need to read. Her curiosity was insatiable, her generosity unlimited, and her loyalty to those she loved eternal. She made our lives richer, and her passing leaves us with wonderful memories. Her dear friend Jan Reynolds wrote, "She was a gift to me, my Jeanne, and I am eternally thankful for the years of friendship we shared, and when I go to Greenbluff this October she'll be with me. I'll hear her laughter and see her hands touching the ripe apples, choosing just the right pumpkin, piling her cart high with carrots and potatoes and firm green cabbage. She'll be with me in the first birdsongs of spring, and I'll see that beautiful smile. Thank you, Jeanne. You are so loved." A memorial gathering will happen sometime in the spring, when her violets are in bloom.
