Jeff Barker Obituary Lived for Christ - Died in Christ Jeff Barker was born in Tokyo, Japan, on May 9, 1956 - the first of six children born to Mariko Fujita and SGT Charles Venton Barker. He died suddenly and unexpectedly on October 14, 2014 at home with his wife after spending the morning with his children. He lived on U.S. military bases in both Japan and the United States before settling in Medical Lake where Jeff graduated from Medical Lake High School in 1974. The defining point of his life was his call to follow Christ in 1976, leading him to attend Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois, from 1983-1986. Jeff worked for both Rykoff Foods and PSC Food Service during his years in the Spokane area. He attended Driscoll Baptist, Suncrest Baptist and First Presbyterian churches. He was the English pastor for the Korean Presbyterian Church in Spokane from 1996-1999. One of his fondest memories in ministry was bringing the Hasadim Mission Ballet of South Korea to Spokane in 1999. Jeff was also part of a small home church which spanned 20 years of fellowship together. He and his family were currently attending Calvary Spokane. He was an entrepreneur and sole proprietor of Sacred Works. Jeff was deeply committed to the interdenominational worship of The Choir of the Crown of Thorns, a ministry of friend/director/composer Jon Van Vogt. Jeff is survived by his wife, Jenny, of Chattaroy, and by his five children: Weldon Barker of Spokane; Anneke Pitini (Guytano) of Nine-Mile Falls; and Geneva, Nathaniel and Natalie Barker of Chattaroy. He is also survived by four grandchildren, five siblings, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. Jeff is ultimately survived by the legacy of faith that he left with his family - a legacy that will follow him into eternity. His influence will be a strength, a joy and a compass to the generations to come. He will be profoundly missed and gratefully and lovingly remembered. Jeff would describe himself as: a child of God, loved on the Cross of Christ, redeemed by the precious blood of Jesus, inheritor of the Spirit, follower of the Lamb, son of the Lord Most High. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2014, at 4:00 PM at Calvary Spokane, 511 West Hastings Rd, Spokane WA.
