Jeffrey Michael Tackes

October 26, 1958 - October 21, 2022

Jeffrey Michael Tackes Obituary Jeffrey Michael Tackes Jeffrey, age 63, passed away on October 21, 2022, into the loving arms of his Savior Jesus Christ, surrounded by his family. He was born on October 26, 1958, to Clarence Peter Kern and Mary Lou Tackes and grew up in Power, Montana. He graduated from Power High School in 1977. He earned a Bachelor of Technology in Construction Technology and an Associate of Science in Drafting Technology degrees from Northern Montana College in 1981 graduating with his class in 1982. During college, Jeff worked in Yellowstone National Park for two summers. After college graduation, Jeff was recruited to work for United Engineers & Constructors (1981-1983) at Hanford Units No. 1 and 2 Nuclear Power Stations in Richland, Washington. While there, his roommate introduced him to Patricia, the love of his life. They were married in April 1983. Their honeymoon began by driving a 32 U-Haul truck across the United States to Seabrook, New Hampshire. There Jeff, and later Patricia, worked for the Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant (1983-1984). While living there, they enjoyed traveling throughout New England, Washington, D.C., and New York. Jeff later worked for Scafco Corporation (1984-1989) and Garco Building Systems (1989-2021) in Spokane, Washington. A new chapter began with the birth of Megan in November 1990. Jeff was a wonderful father and provider for his family. He was also a master chef, creating amazing and exotic meals, comparing notes with his mother-in-law. His many other hobbies included barbecuing, cutting and tumbling rocks, woodworking projects inside and outside the house, gardening, collecting state quarters, Country Western music, fishing, hunting and mountain biking with friends, in his earlier years. Also, Jeff and Patricia were blessed to attend the most amazing concert together, Paul McCartney, in April 2022. Spending time with his family was always very, very important. So many wonderful trips were enjoyed as a family, from several of the islands of Hawaii to the beaches of Oregon, Disney adventures on both coasts, Arizona, Vancouver and Victoria, BC, and Mexico. In 2019 Jeff and Patricia went to the Balloon Festival in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where they had the good fortune to serve as balloon chasers for one couple. Jeff retired in December 2021, with Patricia joining him in January 2022. He went ice fishing in January 2022 with his brother and traveled in mid-July for a family get-together in Montana. He and Patricia celebrated their 39th anniversary in April 2022 on the Big Island of Hawaii in Kona, with Megan, their last big family fling before her wedding. Although Jeff was dealt with the sudden news of a rare cancer, he was a warrior against the adversary. Gods compassion and mercy allowed us the wonderful blessing of Jeffs presence at Megans wedding to Gerald Severson in September 2022. Jeffs gift to Jerry and Megan was a handmade wooden cross made of Purpleheart wood. It stood as a prominent and meaningful symbol for their wedding. His mind was bright, remembering so much. He was so excited about retirement, and had so much he wanted to accomplish: a life cut way too short. Jeffrey, you will be greatly missed by all you have influenced, and by your family most of all. Jeff is survived by his wife Patricia; daughter Megan (Gerald Severson); brothers Keith (Mindy) and Tim (Laura); sisters Susan Kalanick and Lori Milligan (Rick); Aunt Helen Paulson and Uncle Jim Tackes (Linda); many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Memorials in Jeffs name may be made to My Little Animal Kingdom Rescue in Spokane, Washington. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Jeff on November 12, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, 508 North Government Way, Spokane, WA 99224 with a private graveside service at a later time.
