Jerry D. McMackin Obituary (Age 64) Jerry McMackin passed away July 10, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. Jerry was born May 5, 1947 in Newberg, OR to John and Marie McMackin. At age three, the family moved to Spokane where Jerry spent the rest of his life with the exception of several years living with his Grandmother Mary in Bend, OR. Jerry graduated from Shadle Park High School in 1965 and attended Spokane Community College. He worked hard his entire life with his career beginning in the grocery industry. After 10 years he left and briefly worked in the heavy equipment construction industry. He then entered the trucking business as an owner operator and after with a regional distributor, West Coast Groceries. During the late 1980s, Jerry entered the insurance industry as an adjuster for Nationwide Insurance Co. Jerry enjoyed the "American muscle car" and owned several throughout the years. He also was involved in Nascar, snowmobiling, sporting events and most of all boating on the lakes in the Inland Northwest. His passion was his 40' Sea Ray moored at the Coeur d'Alene Resort. Most summer weekends would find him at the helm or on the back of his boat with a good Mexican beer or a Crown Reserve and 7 Up. Jerry was preceded in death by his father & mother, John & Marie McMackin. He is survived by his son, Dru McMackin; his brother, Bob McMackin; his partner in life, Pat Wright, and her son Travis Wright. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice House in Spokane are requested. A Memorial Service for Jerry will be held Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 4:00pm at Heritage Funeral Home.
