Jerry White Obituary (Age 87) Jerry White passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Rockwood South Hill in Spokane, Washington at the age of 87. Jerry was born in Seattle, WA in 1930. He graduated from Lakeside School in Seattle in 1948, attended Harvard University for two years, spent two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and graduated from the University of Washington in 1954 with a BA in business. That same year he married Virginia Ginny Rodrick. Subsequently he obtained his MBA degree from the University of Washington while employed by the US Atomic Energy Commission at the Hanford plant. In 1966 he moved to Spokane, WA to accept the position of Managing Director of the Inland Empire Freight Traffic Association, an organization which was melded in 1976 into J. White & Associates, Inc., a private corporation rendering freight management services to Spokane and northwest business organizations. This enterprise was a unique and needed service for the Inland Empire area at the time. Jerry was active in the Spokane business community for thirty years. He was a Certified Member of the American Society of Traffic and Transportation, a Registered Interstate Commerce Commission Practitioner and practiced administrative law before state and federal transportation regulatory agencies. He was an active member and served on the Boards of the Spokane Area Chamber of Commerce, Spokane Economic Development Council, Momentum, Becoming, Inc., Delta Nu Alpha Transportation Fraternity and St. Stephens Episcopal Church where he was long time Treasurer. He retired from business in Spokane in 1996 after 30 years as a freight transportation consultant. Late in his career, sadly, his wife Ginny passed away. Jerry and JoAn Lambert were joined in marriage in February 1991. Together they spent many winters at their home in Sun Lakes, Arizona, playing golf and enjoying friends. They were active members of St. Stephens Episcopal church for more than 45 years. Family was important to Jerry, and gatherings with his daughters and grandchildren were a source of pride and joy for him. With his marriage to JoAn came a step-family, which he welcomed with open arms. Gardening, and especially beautiful flowers, graced all his homes. Jerry was kind and generous, as well as a man of integrity. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Jerry was preceded in death by his first wife, Ginny White, in 1990, their eldest daughter, Lois White, in 1999, and a grandson Nicholas Jerry Duncanson in 1987. He is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Steve) Duncanson of Boise, Idaho and Julie (Fred) LeFriec of Spokane, his second wife, JoAn, 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 3 step-children, 4 step-grandchildren and 11 step-great-grandchildren.
