Joan Lamson (Case) Campbell Obituary Joan Lamson (Case) Campbell passed away peacefully on March 28th, 2013. Joan was born on March 5, 1936, in Seattle, Washington to Joseph and Mariana Lamson. She attended the University of Washington as a member of the Chi Omega sorority, and received her Elementary Education degree in 1957. She started teaching in Massachusetts, and began her family there. She loved children, and felt a deep calling to help them achieve the most they could in their lives. In following this love she earned a Masters degree in Counseling and Guidance from Pacific Lutheran University, and then worked as a public school counselor in Tacoma, Kent, and Marysville. Joan followed a family tradition of participation in Campfire Girls; she was an active member in Rainbow Girls, and was a Bluebird leader when her children were little. One of her fondest memories was attending and counseling at Camp Sealth on Vashon Island as a young girl. Her faith was a deep part of her life. She saw God's hand in the world around her and in all the faiths of the world. Joan was active in many of the social action movements of our country, always pursuing the equal rights of each person, people of all colors, all faiths, and especially working towards equal opportunities for women. She took pride in her participation in the League of Women Voters, PTA, and the American Association of University Women. Joan is survived by her sister Martha; her children, Steven of Tacoma, Kathleen of Colville, and Jennifer of Colorado Springs; and three grandchildren. Per her request, no formal service will be held; her family will gather to celebrate her life in a private remembrance. Donations may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association.
