John Albert Benadom Obituary (Age 97) John passed away on May 23, 2015, in Spokane, WA. He was born on December 18, 1917, in Atlanta, Missouri to Albert and Mary (Corcoran) Benadom. John moved to Iowa in 1934 and attended Iowa State College for two years before joining the U.S. Army Air Corps in September 1940. After basic training at McCord Field, when it was newly opened and only tents were used, John was stationed at Fort Wright in Spokane in January 1941. He then met his wife Jean Starry at Kinman Business College in February 1941. They were married January 16, 1942, and have celebrated 73 wonderful years together. John was sent to Australia in June 1942 and had various assignments before retiring from the U.S. Air Force in May 1963, as a M/Sgt in the Intelligence Division. While stationed in Labrador, he had a radio station with music and news. John was involved in volunteer work with seniors and was a member of St. Andrew�s Episcopal Church. He was a great story teller and will be greatly missed. John is survived by his wife of 73 years, Jean Benadom; children Anne Linden, Mary Wigen (Boyd), Ginny Sigfusson (Frimann) and Carol Miel (Dan); 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Alice Westphal. A Memorial Service was held on May 26, at St. Andrew�s Episcopal Church.
