February 04, 1939 - May 19, 2018

John Blount Obituary (Age 79) He was peacefully called home Saturday, May 19th, with his loving wife by his side. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Neva; his brothers Bob and Dean; his children Drew, Tim (Davi), and Angie (Mark); 9 grandchildren: Jon, Graydon, Channing, Matthew, Sydney, Trevon, Teagan, Luke and Prestyn, of whom he was very proud and loved so much. John was very community minded, helping anyone who had a need. He taught many students to drive and mowed lawns around the neighborhood. He was involved in his church, serving as usher, greeter, bus driver, chaperone and just received the Distinguished Service Award by the Nazarene Church. He went on many fishing trips with the men's group, loved family get-togethers, took very good care of his brother Dean and enjoyed traveling to see family, wherever they may be. John was a fighter, all the way to the end. There usually wasn't a challenge he couldn't overcome with his strong will, compassion and drive to prove that he could do it because there is always more than one way to get it done. He really enjoyed working at Whitworth, mostly because he was outdoors, and getting to know the students. He will be greatly missed, but all who knew him are grateful for the privilege of knowing him. A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, May 30th, 2018 at 11 am at the Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene 11515 E 20th Ave. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of John, please visit our Tree Store.
