John Charles Kerrick Obituary (Age 80) He was born in Omak, WA to L.J. Doc and Marguerite Kerrick on September 16, 1936. The Good Lord took him home for a Thanksgiving feast on November 24, 2016. He passed away from Alzheimers Disease with family by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Norene Hendrick and Jerrie Ann Brandenberger. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judy and their three daughters Dr. Jill Kerrick Walker (John) of Portland, OR, Christy Kerrick-Malen (Paul) of Liberty Lake, WA and Leah Kerrick Endres of Palm Springs, CA; 5 grandchildren Quinton, Corey (Jill), Caleb (Christy), Sydney and Jeremy (Leah); several nieces and nephews. John graduated from the University of Idaho in 1959 with a Bachelors degree in Sociology and later received his Masters degree in Applied Behavioral Science through Whitworth. He served in the Army Reserves for 3 years and was called back during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He also worked as a park ranger at the Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona. The majority of his career he spent working for the State of Washington Juvenile Parole Services as a counselor and then in supervision. He served on the Executive Board of Big Brothers & Sisters for many years and was very active in the organization. John loved his family and it was reflected in the many activities they enjoyed together, such as snow skiing, camping, riding motor bikes and spending many summers on the St. Joe River boating, fishing, swimming and waterskiing and ice skating when the river froze in the winter time. He was very kind, always considered others before himself and had a great sense of humor with an infectious laugh. The holidays were always a very special time and John loved family get togethers. He also enjoyed bird hunting with his Brittany Spaniels, Copper and Skipper. John was a very hard worker but also found pleasure and reward maintaining their home on Moran Prairie, keeping up with a large yard which meant spending many hours on a lawn tractor and blowing snow in the winter. The family would like to thank the compassionate staff at North Central Care and Hospice of Spokane for their amazing care of John in his last months. A Memorial Service will be held at 2PM Saturday, December 3, 2016 at
