John Joseph Rademacher Obituary Born November 1, 1940 in Grand Rapids, MI to John L. and Beatrice B., John graduated from Ionia High School (MI) in 1958, Albion College in 1962, and Wayne State University School of Medicine in 1966. Following an intern year at Los Angeles County Hospital, he served two years in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. John completed his residency training in radiology at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, OR eventually joining a practice in Pendleton, OR with Dr. Victor Gehling. In 1993 he was appointed department head at the Walla Walla VA Medical Center. John later joined Inland Imaging in Spokane, retiring in December 2010 after 44 years of practice. John is loved and survived by his two sons, Joseph (Jessica) Rademacher of Clackamas, OR and Brooks Rademacher of Rochester, NY, two grandchildren, Jacen and Jaina, and his sister, Janet Baker of Walla Walla, WA. During his time at Inland, John enjoyed working closely with his colleagues, consistently stating that his practice benefitted greatly from their readily available expertise. He often took advantage of opportunities to train radiology residents and technicians, and was honored to speak at the technician graduation ceremony each year. Beyond his family and friends, John grew to love music, having lived in and near Detroit during the popular Motown era. John?s other hobbies included travel to Hawaii, Mexico, and the Oregon Coast, spending hours in search of the latest music in Portland, and being an avid Gonzaga Basketball fan. After a fearless and determined fight against cancer, John passed peacefully at the Hospice of Spokane house on October 26th, surrounded by friends and family. A celebration of life will take place at 2 PM Saturday, November 3rd at 809 E 26th Street in Spokane, WA, the home of one of John?s dear friends. John?s family will be in attendance and in his true spirit, would love the opportunity to share tears, laughs, music, and memories with those who knew him.
