April 21, 1988 - June 17, 2009

Jonathan "Jon" David Assmus Obituary Passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 17, 2009, (after suffering from a seizure a week earlier). Jon was loved by family and friends and will be greatly missed. He was born in Littleton, Colorado, on April 21, 1988, the son of Kenneth Charles Assmus and Tracy Lynn (Jacobson) Assmus. In 1996, Jon's family moved from Colorado to Mead, WA, where Jon was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Jon graduated from Mt. Spokane HS in 2006, and was recognized for his achievements on the tennis court - team captain, 4-year varsity letterman, and other awards. From early in his youth, Jon developed a passion and love of the great outdoors and from his father learned to be a good steward of the environment. Camping, hunting, and fishing were activities he lived when giving his racket a rest from competitive play. After graduation from High School, Jon attended Spokane Community College and was employed in clothing and jewelry retail sales. He was also employed in the construction and mining industry. Jon was a stranger to none??he could find a connection with anyone. He valued people and was a reliable and compassionate friend. Jon is survived by his parents, brothers: Kenny Assmus (Orem, UT), Jeremy Assmus (and wife McKensie of Orem, UT), sister Katelyn Assmus (Mead, WA), paternal grandparents Charles and Donna Assmus (Arvada, CO), maternal grandmother Carma Jacobson (St. George, UT), and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. A celebration of life and memorial service will be Monday, June 22, 2009 at 10 am, (with viewing at 9 am) and will be conducted at the LDS church, 5302 E Green Bluff Rd, Colbert, WA. Internment will follow at Peone Prairie Cemetery. The family suggests that donations, if desired, be made to the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Spokane.
