Joyce Faye Jensen née Havercroft went to be with the Lord on December 8, 2024.

Joyce was born December 31, 1932 in Ellsworth, Kansas. She is the oldest of five children. Joyce graduated from Rogers High School in 1951. Shortly after graduation she married and embarked on many adventures around the globe as a military spouse. She permanently returned to Spokane in 1969. Joyce remarried in 1979. She worked for Keytronic for seventeen years before retiring in the early 90s. She was a longtime member of Central Baptist Church (now Christ Central).

Joyce, by all accounts, was the epitome of kindness and generosity. She would eagerly express her indignance, but it was always in the face of injustice. “Well, that’s not right” was her oft-repeated refrain in such instances. She is well known for her affinity for Christmas. She made 40 kinds of Christmas cookies and packaged them in upcycled coffee cans for friends and family alike. Her holiday spirit was unrivaled as was her earring collection. Joyce’s smile and exuberant chuckle were contagious. She was delightfully affectionate, giving hugs and kisses to everyone, like it or not.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Gayle and Margie Havercroft, her twin sister, Martha Jean, who died shortly after their premature birth, and her daughter, Tana Young. She is survived by her siblings Bill Havercroft, Darrel Havercroft, Roger Havercroft, and Carolyn Renz along with her son Brad Young, daughter Diana Galey, grandchildren Nathan Young, Jiorgia Clark, Leigh-Anne Kelly, Julia Russell, Melena Laver, Matthew Young, and Elizabeth Trobaugh as well as 13 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Joyce’s life is planned for Saturday December 14th, 2024 at Fairmont Memorial Park Chapel at 11:00 am. For those planning to attend, in honor of Joyce’s enthusiasm for Christmas, please wear lively holiday attire. Joyce will be interred in a private burial service.

The family would like to thank the Allen family as well as Donnelle Cross for their tender care of Joyce.

Flowers can be sent to Fairmont Memorial Park 5200 W. Wellesley, Spokane, WA 99205.
