June Marie Gilstrap was born on November 26, 1945, in Weiser, Idaho. After graduating from Weiser High School, she moved to Spokane to attend Kenman Business College. A few years later she met David L. Gilstrap and they were married in 1968. They have two sons (Jeff and Wayne), three grandchildren (Jacob, Daphne, and Henry), and many nieces and nephews.

June was beloved not only by her family, but also by the many children she cared for during her 48 years as a daycare provider. When not caring for her family or daycare children, she enjoyed camping and traveling with David in their motorhome and she had many collectibles and keepsakes from their journeys. June was always willing to help others whenever and however she could. She was greatly loved and we will all miss her presence in our lives.

June passed away on January 6, 2026, in Spokane, Washington. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no memorial service. Those wishing to honor her memory may do so by making a donation in her name to Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery, in recognition of her lifelong love of children. Donate online at https://vanessabehan.givecloud.co/ or mail a check to 2230 E. Sprague Ave., Spokane, WA 99202.
