Katharine R. Sylvester Obituary Katharine R. Sylvester (86) passed away October 26, 2011 in Spokane. She was born August 20, 1925 in Russia to Heinrich and Anna Rogalsky. After high school in Reedley CA, Katharine graduated from BIOLA in Los Angeles receiving her Registered Nurse status at Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital. She got her BA from Redlands University, worked as a nurse then taught nursing at Antelope College until her retirement. On October 21, 1949 she married Hubert Sylvester in Reedley, California. Katharine has lived in Warsaw Indiana, Cuba New Mexico, Visalia, Fullerton, and Lancaster and moved to Spokane in 2002. She has taught many classes in "Women Aware and Choosing". Katharine enjoyed teaching and started painting at the age of 65. She was a member of Northview Bible Church. Katharine is survived by her husband, Hubert at home, sons; David, of Spokane, Jonathan, of Hawaii, and daughter, Judy Schwab of Spokane, eight grandchildren; Michael Sylvester of Reno, Nevada, James Sylvester of Denver, Colorado, Cory Sylvester who is with the Cirque du Soleil, Heidi Graybil of Texas, Caleb, Jonathan, Katrina, and Zachary Schwab of Spokane and six great-grandchildren. Katharine is preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Nick and Pete, and a sister, Ann Simon. Visitation will be Monday, October 31st from 9-5 at Heritage Funeral Home with memorial services on Sunday, November 13th at 3 pm at Northview Bible Church, 13521 N. Mill Rd., Spokane, WA.
