Kathleen Ballard Obituary (Age 86) Kathleen Ballard, a long-time resident of the Spokane area, died peacefully in her sleep on December 6, 2016. She was born in Seattle, Washington on November 19, 1930. Kathleen attended North Central High School in Spokane. She studied art at both Washington State University and the University of Washington. She met and married Charles Samuel Ballard in June of 1951. Kathleen taught both private and public art classes. She was an Art Instructor for the Northshore School district for 20 years. In addition, her work was displayed in the San Francisco Art Museum, The Henry Gallery and Seattle Art Museum and throughout the greater Northwest. She enjoyed painting the Palouse region and children with their pets after reading All Creatures Great and Small by James Harriet. Kathleen loved to travel. Her travels took her to Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Australia, the Caribbean, Hawaii and Alaska. She especially enjoyed Europe where she resided for six months. In addition, Kathleen enjoyed camping with her family, gardening and decorating her house with the changing seasons and holidays. Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband Charles in 2002 and her daughter Constance Pierce in 2004. Kathleen is survived by her daughter, Christine Hubble and several grandchildren: Jamie and Kelly Pierce of San Diego and Abigail and Andrew Hubble of Yakima and her beloved cat Chester. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 2 pm at Sunset Chapel, Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W. Wellesley Ave., followed by inurnment.
