Kathryn G. (Coffman) Share Obituary In Loving Memory Kathryn was born on July 6, 1920 to parents Charles L. Coffman and Bertha M. Coffman (Denny) in Spokane, WA. She passed away on May 24, 2011. Kathryn attended Hutton Elementary, Lewis and Clark High School and Spokane Junior College. She was an avid tennis player and could be seen on the Manito and Comstock tennis courts in the summer time. She worked at John W. Grahams during WWII. Kathryn met her husband George at a USO dance while he was serving with the Navy at Farragut, Idaho. They married in 1944 and Kathryn lived in Spokane while her husband served in Saipan. After the war they lived briefly in Chicago, IL before returning to Spokane where their children were born. Kathryn served as church librarian at Central Christian Church for many years. She also volunteered in the libraries of Hutton and Sacajawea Jr. High. She loved books and libraries and especially loved her "Oz" books and mysteries. Kathryn was an artist at heart and loved to paint and do ceramics. She was a member of Chapter AZ PEO, Pacific NW Association of Church Libraries and the Ding a Lings. Kathryn had a cheerful demeanor, a gentle spirit and a generous heart. She was a friend to all. The family would like to thank the staff at Riverview for the wonderful care Kathryn received in her last years. Kathryn is survived by her daughter Vicky Fukai, Spokane, WA, grandchildren Chris Fukai (Val), Portland, OR, Kelly Irvine (Troy), Spokane, WA, Colin Fukai (Yuka) Toyooka, Japan, Katy Miller (Wayne), Spokane, WA, great-grandchildren, Mason, Abbey and Jack Irvine, Hailie and Jake Fukai and Mei Fukai and nieces, Katy McKeown (Mike Smith) and Susan Leinan (Steve) both of Spokane. Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years George, her son George (Skip) and her sister Esther Triplett. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 1 at 1 pm at St John's Cathedral, 127 E 12th Avenue, Spokane, WA 99202. A graveside service will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Donations in Kathryn's name may be made to Riverview Care Center 1801 E Upriver Dr, Spokane, WA 99207, Alzheimer's Association or the charity of your choice.
