Kay Del Twigg (78), beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed from this earthly realm on March 27, 2025, with her two daughters holding her hands. Her life was a testament to unwavering faith, selfless service, and deep devotion to her family.

Born to Wilma and Charles Nuckolls on March 24th, 1947, in Spokane, Washington, Kay graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1965. She met Robert ‘Bob” Twigg and they were married in December of 1967.

Throughout her life, Kay filled many roles that spanned from investing in the lives of those in her church community to serving local organizations helping to meet the needs of others. While a member at Terrace Heights Baptist Church, Kay taught children’s Sunday School, volunteered regularly to help with the annual Vacation Bible School, was a faithful member of the choir, and participated in the ladies ministry. As her spiritual journey led her to another congregation, she again stepped into a servants role at Crestline Baptist Church, assisting in similar ways with their children’s ministry, the church choir, and women’s missions.

Kay was also involved in contributing to her local community. As part of Spokane County REACT (Radio Emergency Assistance Communication Team), Kay and Bob took shifts, along with other team members, to monitor the CB radio for emergency calls to assist motorists and truck drivers. As part of the local REACT team, they participated in “wake breaks” at the Post Falls rest stops serving coffee to tired travelers. They also manned the Lost Children’s Booth at local events such as Neighbor Days, the Lilac Parades, the Spokane Interstate Fair, and the annual air show at Fairchild AFB.

Kay’s heart for service also led her to become a faithful blood donor at the Inland Northwest Blood Center throughout her adult life. Her generosity saved lives as she donated over 22 gallons of blood at the INBC.

Kay’s greatest joy came from her family. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters Naomi Hathaway (Jonathan) and Alicia Fields (Bruce), and four cherished grandchildren who brought light into her life. She is survived by her two sisters, Arvita Elam and Mari Riedlinger, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews who were touched by her warmth and generosity.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bob; her parents; and her brother James Nuckolls.

A celebration of life service is planned for Monday, June 2, at 11 AM in the Sunset Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W. Wellesley Ave., Spokane, Washington, 99205, with a short graveside service to follow.
