Died peacefully Thursday, January 20, 2011 after a brief illness in Spokane. He was born to Clarence and Margaret Crawford in Dinuba, CA. Ken graduated from Stockton High School in 1941. He then joined the U.S. Army Air Force in 1942 participating in the Chinese-Burma- India Theater of operations. He was awarded the Air Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievements and received Oak Leaf Clusters to each of these awards. After the war Ken met his wife, Bernice Crawford, and the two were married in 1948. Ken attended Business School in Stockton and was employed by Sears in the credit department. He was promoted to credit manager and worked in several stores in California. In 1963 he was employed by Montgomery Ward's as an area credit manager for the Northwest region. He and his family then moved to Spokane, WA. Ken retired in his fifties to manage and care for his rental houses. He loved landscaping and renovating old houses. His pride and joy was his property on Loon Lake where family and friends enjoyed summer weekends boating and visiting. Ken is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Bernice Crawford; daughter Suzanne Brosseau (Greg); son Kenneth J Crawford (Heidi); younger sister, Ellie Kampschmidt; five grandchildren, Brooke Smith (Ryan), Kelli and Jace Crawford, Matt and Nick Brosseau; and three great-grandchildren, Zach Erickson, Colton and Carter Smith. Ken was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be greatly missed. A Funeral Service will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 27th at the Sunset Chapel in Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W Wellesley.
