Kermit J. Link died Spokane, WA, July 14, 2024


Kermit was born in Algona, IA, in 1935 to Thomas L. and Edna M. (Renaud) Link. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Kathryn E. Link, his twin brother Kent A. Link, and younger brother Thomas K. Link.


Kermit graduated in 1953 from Abraham Lincoln High School, Council Bluffs, IA. After graduation from Iowa State University in 1958 (forestry), he and his wife Kathryn moved to Washington state where he worked on the Conconully, WA Ranger District for three years before coming to the supervisor’s office in Okanogan (timber management). In the 1970’s he worked in the regional office in Portland, OR. In 1980 he transferred to Colville, WA retiring in 1993 as timber staff officer, Colville National Forest.


He had an enjoyable retirement in Colville with much time spent on his hobbies: tinkering on cars, tractors and stationary engines with his good buddies, flying model airplanes, working jigsaw puzzles and gardening.


Kermit is survived by daughter Lee Ann Mauk (Robert) Spokane, WA, daughter Susan E. Shipman, Pullman, WA, two grandsons Elliot Shipman, Colorado Springs, CO, Chip Shipman, Pullman, WA, granddaughter Caitlin Shino (Trent) Spokane, WA, four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.


The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Brookdale Nine-Mile Memory Care and to Hospice of Spokane.


The family asks that those that would like to make a donation in Kermit’s memory to kindly consider Hospice of Spokane.


A memorial service is being planned for the fall and will be announced at a later date.
