On June 30, 2010, our dearest gift from God peacefully passed. Kim was born in Canton, China on August 15, 1920. He lived in eastern Oregon until World War II. From 1942 until 1946, he worked for the Medical Department of the Army where he supervised the preparation of meals for approximately 500 patients and staff. He attained the rank of Technical Sergeant and was stationed in combat zones including New Guinea. He married Edith Eng in 1947 and had two sons. He was a chef and part owner of the Far East Restaurant in Spokane. Kim enjoyed fishing, cooking, gardening and traveling. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and frequently volunteered for community service projects. Kim is survived by Edith, his loving wife of 62 years; two sons Jeff (Karen) and Brian (Elena); and five grandchildren, Kevin, Lisa, Laurie, Kristen and Gary. Kim is also survived by numerous brothers, sisters, cousins, nephews and nieces. We were all blessed and honored to have been a part of his life. A memorial service will be held to honor Kim at Salem Lutheran Church, 1428 W. Broadway, Spokane on July 10th at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Kim's memory to either Kin On Nursing Home, 4416 S. Brandon Street, Seattle WA 98118 or The Salvation Army of Spokane, 222 E.
