Knownly Robert (Bob) Dorman Obituary DORMAN, Knownly Robert "Bob" (January 8, 1926 - February 14, 2012) Bob passed away at home with his loving family there with him. He died of natural causes at the age of 86. He was born on January 8, 1926 in Bismarck, North Dakota. Bob is survived by his wife Delores Peterson Dorman; four boys, Darwin, Loren (Patricia), Keith and Kevin; and six grandchildren, Monica Rust (Keith), Angela, Robert (Katy), Matthew (Alissa), Sarah and Shannon, and 11 great-grandchildren, Brittany, Justin, Titus, Diandre, Avery, Trevor, Skyler, Jessell, Ethan and Jacob. Bob served in the U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Marines from 1944 - 1945 in WWII and in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He attended the Montana School of Mines in Butte, Montana graduating with a BS in Mining Engineering. He spent 24 years working for the U.S. Dept. of the Interior, Bureau of Mines. Bob invented a rock crushing machine that was patented by the U.S. Bureau of Mines. The "Silver Fox" was known for his great sense of humor and was always ready for a funny joke. He played cards and enjoyed golf. Bob loved hunting, fishing, painting, word working, gardening and dancing. Cruising was one of his favorite ways of traveling. A memorial service will be held at the Heritage Chapel, Monday, February 20th, 2012 at 10:00 AM. Following the service will be a luncheon at the Sans Souci Center located at 3231 West Boone Ave, Spokane, WA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Spokane.
